Daniel B. Wallace Debates Bart D. Ehrman!

If you live in the Dallas, TX area, you're in luck! Two titans of textual criticism will be debating at the McFarlin Auditorium on Saturday, October 1st at 7:00 p.m.

Daniel B. Wallace and Bart D. Ehrman will be debating whether or not the text of the New Testament is reliable. Tickets are only $20. If you live anywhere near the Dallas area, this would be an event to attend!

Recordings will hopefully be available. I have been waiting for these two to discuss their thoughts with each other and the moment has finally arrived. Can't wait to see the outcome.

New Testament Translation by N. T. Wright

N. T. Wright had made the statement during a lecture that he didn't ever plan on coming out with his own translation of the Bible - however, if you have kept up with Wright in any form, you will know of his popular 'Everyone' series. This is basically a popular level commentary series which will be completed with the book of Revelation in September / October (September for the British edition and October the American).
This commentary series holds N. T. Wright's entire translation of the New Testament. Therefore HarperOne Publisher (also known as HarperCollins Publishing) wanted to release Wright's translation into a single, one-volume New Testament translation. The title will be: 'The Kingdom New Testament: A Contemporary Translation.'
Again, it will be published by HarperOne. The release date is October 25th 2011. It will be 544 pages.
Here is what HarperOne had to say about the book thus far:

From the man Newsweek called “the world’s leading New Testament Scholar,” N. T. Wright, comes a fresh, vivid translation of the New Testament. This is The Message for a new generation. Not in centuries has such a powerful new translation of the Scriptures arisen for Christians everywhere, changing the way the entire English-speaking world can access the books of the New Testament. Wright seems to do the impossible, at once achieving a closer match to the Scripture’s original Greek, invoking more appropriately gender-neutral terminology, and providing a more natural, readable tone to the readings—even while magnifying the vibrancy and urgency of the original works. For Christians worldwide, this stunning new translation of the New Testament from the author of Simply Christian and Scripture and the Authority of God is a crucial way to re-claim the message of the Bible.
With all this being said, N. T. Wright more than likely does not see this as being the ultimate and final translation. This is a translation that is to fit with the 'average Joe' out there.
Another book to be released by N. T. Wright on the same day (Oct. 25th) will be 'Simply Jesus: A New Vision of Who He Was, What He Did, and Why He Matters ' - likely resembling his 'Simply Christian' book released a few years ago.
More on each of these books to come.
